60-Year-Old Woman Arrested in Orange Farm for Suspected Stolen City Power Property Worth R3-million.

ORANGE FARM - The Orange Farm SAPS arrested a 60-year-old woman for allegedly being in possession of stolen City Power property worth approximately R3-million. The arrest occurred during a joint operation, including the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department, SAPS Gauteng Highway Patrol, and PRASA Business Investigation Unit. Vaal Journal reports on Thursday 07 December 2023, information was received regarding an owner of the Lehae La Bafokeng Palace and Resort at a plot in Rietfontein, Orange Farm in the Vaal Triangle who was in possession of suspected stolen property belonging to City Power. It was further reported that the stolen property was delivered by unknown suspects with a truck and it was alleged that the property was intended to be moved to an unknown location. During a search, the operational team found transformers, copper cables, and streetlights. City Power officials confirmed that the property with an estimated value of approximately R3-million belongs to City Power. The suspect claimed to have purchased the stolen goods from an unnamed individual purportedly affiliated with City Power. She has been detained at Orange Farm SAPS, facing questioning and pending a court appearance as investigations continue into the case.
