The Johannesburg law firm RH Lawyers Incorporated says it will file a class action against various role players who may be liable for the tanker explosion in Boksburg in which thirty-seven people, including Boksburg residents and health workers, died in the explosion the day before Christmas. This follows after at least 20 people who were affected instructed him to start such a case. This includes people who were injured in the blast. Some of the players who can potentially expect legal action against them include the Passenger Rail Agency, the Ekurhuleni Municipality, the police service and the fire department.
Meanwhile, the Department of Health and Welfare in Gauteng has also started an investigation. The Gauteng MEC for Health and Wellbeing, Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko, said during the healing service for the 12 nurses who died in the explosion, that the government will ensure that the hospital's infrastructure is repaired and that the well-being of nurses is looked after..
