Agri SA says Unlawful Entry on Premises Bill creates greater danger for landowners
VAAL TRIANGLE - The Unlawful Entry on Premises Bill in its current form will require Vaal Triangle and other SA land owners to first approach unlawful trespassers and ask them to vacate the premises, before any steps can be taken. Agri SA has said it is concerned about the requirement in the Unlawful Entry on Premises Bill that a landowner must approach unlawful trespassers, and request them to vacate the premises, as their members increasingly encounter trespassers with little support from the police. Agri SA’s Kobus Visser says the bill has life-threatening loopholes, placing the safety of landowners at risk. Visser adds the bill has the potential to curb unlawful entry on farmers’ premises, but called on the government to reconsider the published first draft of the bill.
