Amendment Bill proposes no more guns for self-defense

VAAL TRIANGLE - The public is requested to comment on the Firearms License Control Amendment Bill. The amendment bill was published in the Government Gazette on Friday. The draft law seeks to compel the applicant for a firearm license to provide a valid reason for possessing a firearm. It then provides that no firearm licenses may be issued for self-defense purposes. AfriForum has vowed to fight the draft amendment bill regarding the possession of firearms. AfriForum’s Marnus Kamfer says the proposed amendments are irrational and reckless.
