Change to matric exam table due to elections

BREAKING: The Department of Basic Education has announced that the final National Senior Certificate examination will now start October 27 and not November 1 as initially scheduled. It says it has taken this decision to accommodate the local government elections which will be held on the first of November. Learners who are eligible to vote would now be able to cast their ballots. Department spokesperson Elijah Mhlanga says the exams are now set to start on the 27th of next month. He adds that the best interest of the learners was a key consideration, in addition to ensuring a minimum change to the current timetable to avoid confusion. Exams for English, business studies and non-official languages will be written on 27 and 28 of October.
