Chronic medication prescriptions extended due to Covid-19
VAAL TRIANGLE - In a bid to limit movement government has amended the Medicines and Related Substances Act to allow for the extension of medical prescriptions that expire during the coronavirus pandemic. The amendments state that chronic medication prescriptions are now subject to extensions by dispensing pharmacists for a further six months. This means if a person was issued a prescription in January, expiring in June, following the judgment of the prescription dispenser, the prescription will be extended in accordance with the original prescription.
