COVID-19 puts National Health Insurance bill on hold

VAAL TRIANGLE - The COVID-19 pandemic has put the proposed National Health Insurance Bill on hold. The plan was to have the NHI fully implemented by 2026, but the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic has forced the government to re-evaluate the future of the Bill. The Institute of Race Relations has expressed concern over the introduction of the bill. Head of Policy Research, Hermann Pretorius, says the outbreak of the pandemic has highlighted the discrepancies in standards in the private and public sectors.
