Eighteen contractors to be hired to assist with Vaal River problems
VAAL TRIANGLE - The Department of Water and Sanitation says the appointment of contractors to unblock the sewer system that flows into the Vaal River in Gauteng, is necessitated by the lack of operations and maintenance of wastewater infrastructure at local government level. Eighteen contractors will be hired on an emergency basis to address the protracted seepage of raw sewer into the Vaal River, particularly in the Emfuleni Local Municipality. The department says it is working hard to ensure that issues about the eradication of sewer spillages within communities are addressed.
