Emfuleni concludes tests of faulty transformer at town substation

VANDERBIJLPARK - The Emfuleni Local Municipality issued a notice this afternoon that it has concluded tests of the faulty 10 MVA transformer at the Town Substation. This comes after power supply interruptions at the Town Substation have affected the Metsi-a-Lekoa Call Center and Vanderbijlpark water reservoirs. Emfuleni yesterday said water levels at the reservoir are starting to drop and as a result, Bophelong, Bonane, Vanderbijlpark CBD, NW7, CE and CW areas might experience water supply interruptions (low pressure and no water in some areas). ELM said a team of technicians has been dispatched to the Town Substation for fault-finding and power supply restoration. In the notice today, it said test results have been sent to the lab for analysis with results expected by later this afternoon. Emfuleni said power supply to the affected areas will be restored upon receipt of positive results from the lab. Technicians remain on site conducting further tests on the transformer. The municipality is pleading for patience with the affected communities as work to restore power continues. PHOTOS: (Emfuleni Local Municipality)
