EMFULENI - The Emfuleni Mayoral Committee Members and administration team led by the Executive Mayor, Cllr. Sipho Radebe, met with the Vereeniging Business Cooperation (VBC) yesterday, in an effort to find solutions to the service delivery challenges identified and raised by the Cooperation. Mayoral Spokesperson, Mphi-ke-leli Msibi, said in a statement a mutual call for enhancing the relationship among the organisations through the establishment of the Stakeholder Forum for both business and Civil Society, was made and agreed to unanimously. She adds the meeting has established a Priority Team which will report to the Executive Mayor periodically. This team, among others, will develop a process plan that will ultimately lead to the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Radebe concluded the meeting with appreciation to the leadership of business under the VBC. He further committed the municipality to present a more comprehensive response that will include the MoU conclusion.
Meanwhile Emfuleni Local Municipality has released a statement that water supply to Steel Park, Sonland Park and Homer consumers will be shut down until 21h00 tonight. This is to allow emergency repairs of a leaking bulk water supply pipeline at Houtkop Road, Vereeniging. A team is currently on site working on restoration efforts. Motorists using the Houtkop Road to Vereeniging are advised to practice extreme caution to avoid construction zone accidents.
