Emfuleni still working on NE 3 substation

VAAL TRIANGLE - The Emfuleni Local Municipality says work to restore power supply at the NE 3 substation continues on site, with technicians connecting control and protection cables. The municipality this afternoon issued a notice saying the process to assemble the transformer has been completed and the team is currently filling it up with oil. Once protection cables are all connected, technicians will then soak the transformer. ELM said affected residents, like those in Tshepiso Phase 5 and Tshirela, are hereby advised that the new transformer is different from the last one, therefore, a lot of work to modify cable work will be undertaken, and this may slightly prolong the time it takes to switch on the power. Provided that all goes accordingly, the municipality will restore power supply by no later than Friday, 07 May 2021. Further updates will be communicated regularly as technicians provide more information.

The latest information that Emfuleni posted about power supply to Peacehaven on Friday was that the replacement cable for all streets affected by the power outage has been delivered. ELM said an update on the commencement of cable laying process will be communicated, but no ETR could be given at that stage.

Meanwhile, Emfuleni councillor Gerda Senekal said in a short notice that Rand Water has opened the taps to Vanderbijlpark again. She said this means the water shortage is now at its end in the area. More to follow on this in later bulletins as information becomes available.
