Emfuleni threatens disconnections if residents pay only a flat rate

VAAL TRIANGLE - The Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) says it notes with concern several reports, posters and flyers urging resident to only pay a flat rate of R600 for their municipal accounts. The municipality warned residents in a notice that they face the risk of possible service disconnections if they intend to participate in the payment of a so-called ‘flat-rate’. ELM said it hereby distances itself from any of these reports, meetins and communication of the payment of a flat-rate by residents. Emfuleni said residents who have accounts in arrears are advised to visit the municipality’s customer care centre at the OK Building on President Krugber Street in the Vanderbijlpark CBD, to make payment arrangements.
