Emfuleni undertakes critical maintenance work at its Powerville substation

VAAL TRIANGLE - Rand Water says the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) and ESKOM is undertaking maintenance work over five days at their Powerville Main Substation. Rand Water spokesperson, Justice Mohale, said in a statement the Powerville substation supplies Rand Water’s Vereeniging Water Treatment Plant with electricity. According to Mohale, the work started on Saturday 26 March 2022 and will continue until Wednesday 30 march 2022. He said this work will improve reliability of electricity supply to the Vereeniging Treatment Plant. Rand Water is not anticipating any interruption over the period of the maintenance work, however, in the event of any trip, customers will be informed. Mohale said as a precautionary measure, Rand Water has postponed all planned shutdowns that were supposed to take place at the beginning of April 2022 until further notice. The planned shutdowns were the S3 Pipeline that was supposed to commence from 1– 3 April 2022 and the H47 Pipeline planned for the 6 April 2022. Rand Water would like to urge consumers to continue using water sparingly.
