Eskom seizes one of Emfuleni’s bank accounts due to non-payment

The Freedom Front Plus says the Emfuleni Local Municipality has allegedly not been honoring its repayment agreement with Eskom resulting in service delivery coming to a standstill as Eskom seized one of their bank accounts. FF Plus Councilor in Emfuleni, Gerda Senekal, said Eskom opted to take this drastic action because the municipality did not honor its repayment agreement with the power utility since the court ruled in Eskom’s favor, granting a summary judgement of R1.3billion against the municipality. Senekal states that due to the bank account being seized the municipal vehicles and bulldozers are stranded due to a lack of fuel.
