Eskom wins a summary judgement against Emfuleni municipality for R1.3-billion

VAAL TRIANGLE - Eskom says it has won a summary judgement against Emfuleni Local Municipality for the amount of R1.3-billion the municipality owes the power utility for unpaid bulk electricity services back in 2019. The amount is part of the total debt of R1.9-billion accumulated in that year. Eskom says the authority’s assets were attached in an attempt to recoup the debt. Eskom spokesperson in Gauteng, Amanda Qithi says Emfuleni’s total debt stands at a staggering R3.5-billion, including the current account bill of R385-million.
