Five suspects arrested in Vanderbijlpark for possession of stolen copper cables.

The Sedibeng SAPS arrested five suspects for being in possession of suspected stolen copper cables, on Monday. Police Spokesperson, Sergeant Nombulelo Mohlakoana said that SAPS members from the Sedibeng DOCC and Evaton crime prevention unit, received information on Monday morning about a black Audi A3 that was transporting stolen copper cables driving on the Golden Highway in the direction towards Vanderbijlpark. The members then patrolled Vanderbijlpark area on all possible scrapyards and spotted the vehicle on the Golden Highway at Daimler Street, in Vanderbijlpark. According to Mohlakoana, the task force approached the vehicle and five suspects and the vehicle was searched and small pieces of copper along with a payment slip, dated the same day, from a recycling company nearby, was found in the vehicle. The suspects were taken to the relevant scrapyard, and were identified by an employee. Security footage confirmed the suspects being guilty, and the copper that was sold to the scrapyard, by the suspects was confiscated. Mohlakoana said all suspects were detained and will appear in the Vanderbijlpark Court soon.
