Gauteng’s power grid is on the brink of a collapse

VAAL TRIANGLE - Eskom warns that Gauteng’s power grid could soon collapse due to the cold weather and an excess of illegal connections.

In a statement, Eskom said that the province’s power network was being overloaded. The power utility says they will have to take drastic steps to stop the network from overloading, and in the end, collapsing. Eskom’s communication and stakeholder relations officer, Ronel Kotze, says high trends of energy demand are being recorded during peak periods in the mornings between five and nine, and again in the evenings between five and ten.
