Government is looking at possibilities to regulate the cost of higher education.
The Department of Higher Education says government is working on measures to regulate education costs in tertiary institutions.
This comes as many accomplished South African matric learners cannot afford the fees due to the high cost of living.
Last week Wits University’s Student Representative Council held a clean-up campaign to raise funds for struggling students.
Deputy minister Buti Manamela told eNCA government wants to implement measures that produce tangible results so that learners from the middle class can also be accommodated.
