Heilbron SAPS seeks family members after five died in R57 accident

SASOLBURG - The Heilbron police requested assistance from the community in identifying the bodies of three of the people involved in a serious accident on R57 between Heilbron and Sasolburg. ER24 earlier said in a statement that five people were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a light motor vehicle on the R57, approximately 15km outside Heilbron on Friday afternoon. ER24 and other services arrived at 13h45 to find the truck and light motor vehicle on the side of the road smashed together. On closer inspection, medics found the bodies of three women and two men trapped inside the car. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for them, and they were declared dead on the scene. Police spokesperson, Sgt Josephine Rani, said in the SAPS statement that the driver and one female have been identified, but one male – a Lesotho citizen – and two females have not yet been identified. Rani asked anyone who may have any information to contact Lt Colonel Mosiuoa Mokhethi on 082 525 2303. ER24 said the driver and passenger from the truck, fortunately, escaped injury.
