June school holidays may be cancelled to make up for lost teaching time

VAAL TRIANGLE - The Department of Basic Education says it’s currently working on various plans to save what’s left of the academic year. This includes the possibility of canceling the June school holidays or extending school teaching hours to make up for the time lost. Meanwhile, a total of 41 suspects have been arrested in connection with the burglaries and the burning of Gauteng schools during the lockdown. The Gauteng Education Department says the recent spate of crimes involving schools has become a threat to the future of learners. Spokesperson Steve Mabona has commended the police’s quick response in arresting those responsible for these acts. Click to listen:
