Learners involved in scholar transport accident in Vanderbijlpark

SEBOKENG - Eight learners from Sebokeng were involved in a scholar transportation accident yesterday, leaving one dead. The Gauteng Department of Education issued a media statement, informing the public with regret that eight learners from the Dinokaneng Secondary School were involved in the accident yesterday morning, leaving one dead, three hospitalised and four sustaining minor injuries. The incident allegedly occurred at the hostel pickup point, where the learners were reportedly hit by a scholar transportation bus while boarding. According to the statement, the learners were rushed to a local medical facility, where one of the learners succumbed to their injuries. Departmental spokesperson, Steve Mabona, says the police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. He also says a psycho-social team has been sent to the school to provide counselling to learners and teachers.
