DE DEUR - A 31-year-old man from De Deur in the Vaal Triangle, Moses Makoso, has been found guilty of premeditated murder, rape and kidnapping a six-year-old girl, as well as obstruction of justice in the High Court in Pretoria. The South African reports National Prosecuting Authority’s (NPA) Regional Spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana, said the shocking crime occurred on 29 April 2021. The girl and two boys had gone to the bush in Maboloka, Brits, which was near Makoso’s home, to get cucumbers. Mahanjana said Makoso called the three children to his house. He then instructed the brother and the friend to go back home to wear shoes. He promised to give them fish on their return. The two boys left and he then led the little girl back to the bushes where he raped, strangled her to death and set her body alight. Mahanjana said the community and the family searched for the missing child. Only on the following day they went to Makoso’s house where they apprehended and handed him over to the police.
