Heineken South Africa yesterday launched a solar power plant at its Sedibeng, Midvaal brewery in Gauteng. The solar plant started producing power in May this year and is the largest free-standing solar plant that powers a brewery in South Africa. It is also the largest within the Heineken group. The construction process took about seven months to complete. During this time, a total of 127 jobs were generated. This built-in grid-connected solar project features single-axis tracking technology that allows the panels to move with the rising and setting of the sun.
