Midvaal Local Municipality is concerned about ratepayers bypassing water or electricity meters

MIDVAAL - The Midvaal Local Municipality says it is concerned about the increase of cases where ratepayers have bypassed their water or electricity meters. Municipality spokesperson, Kagiso Korae, says this is an illegal act and carries a hefty fine of approximately R30 000, depending on the power phase. According to Korae, the Council loses about 75% of potential income on bypassed meters. The municipality further urged community members to report any suspicion of bypassing by any ratepayer by sending a WhatsApp to 064 582 6466, or an SMS to 38225.
