Midvaal mayor says situation is calm; urges residents to keep it that way

MIDVAAL - The Midvaal Local Municipality says it notes with deep concern the violent riots which left business properties damaged and looted in parts of KZN and Gauteng. The Executive Mayor of Midvaal Local Municipality, Bongani Baloyi said in a statement he would like to thank and appreciate the residents of Midvaal for taking a stand against the rampant looting and violence that is taking place around the country. Baloyi said Midvaal remains relatively stable and not affected but very cautious of high-risk areas. He urged all Midvaal communities, business establishments and stakeholders to remain calm and continue working together in curbing any potential harm. Baloyi said resources have already been made available to mitigate against such and service delivery will continue uninterrupted and efforts are in place to protect our critical infrastructure.
