VAAL TRIANGLE - Next week, Vaal Triangle residents will be able to get their COVID-19 vaccine at a mobile vaccination site at the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) in Vanderbijlpark. The mobile vaccination team will be at the VUT campus main gate in Andries Potgieter Boulevard in Vanderbijlpark next week on the 8th and 9th of September. Residents will be able to get their jab any time between 09:00 and 15:00 on both days. Anyone who is 18 years or older will be eligible. Residents are urged to bring along their ID or driver’s license for identification. The mobile vaccination team will register participants on the EVDS and vaccinate on the spot.
President Cyril Ramaphosa says any mandatory vaccination policies must be based on mutual respect. The statement comes against the backdrop of several reports of companies looking to make employees vaccinate. Answering questions in Parliament, Ramaphosa says there should be a balance between public health imperatives, employees’ constitutional rights and the efficient operation of the employer’s business. He adds that employees who refuse the jab, could also be encouraged to continue working from home.
