National State of Disaster extended until mid-July

VAAL TRIANGLE - Cabinet decided to appeal this week’s High Court decision that the regulations of level 3 and 4 of the lockdown were unconstitutional and invalid. The court in Pretoria gave minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma two weeks to rectify the measures. However, Minister in the Presidency Jackson Mthembu, says cabinet feels that the regulations were properly enacted and served a purpose and that any other court would not reach the same conclusion. He also announced duringa news conference that the state of disaster will be extended by another month until the 15th of 2020. Minister Mthembu said Cabinet has approved the extension of the National State of Disaster by another month from 15 June until 15 July 2020. President Cyril Ramaphosa officially declared a National State of Disaster in March to combat the coronavirus.
