ORANGE FARM - Civilian Secretariat for Police Service’s Ms Msada today told the Orange Farm community that the local police station has recorded 528 gender-based violence cases in 2021 alone. Msada spoke during the Gender-Based Violence Provincial Campaign Stakeholders Engagement Session currently underway at Chris Hani Hall in Orange Farm, Vaal Triangle. The event is being held to educate Orange Farm community members on the Domestic Violence Act. Msada said Orange Farm has 331 legal liquor outlets and this is a huge factor to acts of gender-based violence. The Orange Farm police station’s Constable Motsapi gave feedback on crime patterns in the policing precinct, saying in the past three months, the Orange Farm police station has recorded more than 85 domestic violence cases. Motsapi said most of these cases emanate from entertainment areas. He said they also recorded cases such as murder, attempted murder and malicious damage to property due to domestic violence cases.
