Police disperse church gathering in Sebokeng

SEBOKENG - The police in Sebokeng, in the Sedibeng District, in Gauteng, arrested three suspects yesterday for contravening the Disaster Management Act and inciting public violence. Two male church leaders and a 62-year old woman were arrested. The police responded to reports of an illegal gathering at a church in Sebokeng. Upon arrival, members ordered two-hundred-and-50 congregants to disperse and the group allegedly defied police orders. Police spokesperson, Brigadier Mathapelo Peters, says the situation allegedly turned violent when the congregants started throwing chairs at the police members.
