Rand Water to hand over newly built waste water treatment plant to the Emfuleni Municipality

VAAL TRIANGLE - Rand Water will tomorrow formally handover the newly built state-of-the-art Sebokeng Waste Water Treatment Plant (Phase 1) to the Emfuleni Local Municipality. The Sebokeng Waste Water Treatment Plant project is part of the Sedibeng Regional Sewer Scheme and is funded by the Department of Water and Sanitation. Work was completed in July and thereafter a series of tests were undertaken to ensure its operational efficacy. The previous capacity of 100 megalitres per day has been upgraded to 150 megalitres per day. Included, in the design is its design capacity to manage the existing demand and in doing so prevent the spillage of raw sewage and the discharge of non-compliant effluent into the Vaal River.
