DENEYSVILLE - The DA in Metsimaholo has urged residents of Deneysville and surrounding areas to sign a petition opposing the proposed name change for the town and its nearby nature reserve. Concerns have been raised over the lack of proper public consultation during this process. The petition will be submitted to the Free State Legislature Petitions Committee and the Public Protector, with the aim of ensuring that correct legal procedures are followed. In addition to signing the petition, all concerned residents are encouraged to attend a public hearing on the matter, scheduled for Monday, 23 September at 16:00. This hearing will provide an opportunity for locals to voice their opinions and stand against the name change from Deneysville to Lekoa. The DA says the public’s participation is crucial in protecting the town's heritage and ensuring transparency in this decision-making process.
