VAAL TRIANGLE - Sasol says it donated 200 blankets to the Ngwathe Local Municipality in the Fezile Dabi District which were accepted by their Executive Mayor, Cllr Joey Mochela. Mine Manager at a wholly owned subsidiary of Sasol, Mooikraal Mine, Eric Zwane, said the various challenges posed by the social problems that affect our society, especially in the poor communities, call upon all of us, especially corporate South Africa, to contribute to community upliftment. Zwane said that in order to solidify Sasol’s relationship with the Ngwathe community as a social partner, it recognises the need to support communities that reside near our area of operations. He said over the years Sasol has been involved in a number of initiatives in the community and more will be announced in the near future. Cllr Mochela thanked Sasol for the donation, saying COVID-19 pandemic has affected our municipality in the most profound way – it has impacted on our everyday lives, our interactions with family and friends, our workplaces and our schools, our businesses and our frontline services – all have been affected by it and the challenges it has created. He said the donation will go some way to alleviate a number of the effects that this pandemic has inflicted in our community. The ceremony ended with blankets handed over by the Executive Mayor to the community members that were present.
