Sasolburg former official caught for fraud

SASOLBURG - The Hawks' Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team is investigating fraud against a former Sasolburg government official. News24 reports Modiehi Rebecca Mokoena, who worked as a Human Resource Officer at the Fezile Dabi Department of Education from 2006 to 2018, was arrested for allegedly defrauding her Department, following an ongoing investigation. According to Captain Christopher Singo, Mokoena faces charges of fraud, forgery, uttering and money laundering, after allegedly creating ghost employees within the Department’s system. Singo says Mokoena allegedly used personal details of her family members to create these ghost employees and issue salary payments worth more than R1-million. Mokoena was granted bail of R 5 000 during her appearance in the Sasolburg Magistrates Court on the 26th of May. Her hearing is set for the 24th of June.
