SASOLBURG - Sasolburg High School said they received notice this morning that a learner that attended school on Friday tested positive for COVID-19. Principal, Mr. W.E. Wessels, said in the notice the school will, therefore, be closed for assessment by the Health and Education Departments until further notice. According to Wessels, this decision was made in consultation with the Departments of Health and Education after two learners tested positive for COVID-19 recently. He said the school will be thoroughly sanitized and all persons that were in contact with the infected learners will be informed and the necessary protocol will be followed. Wessels said they will inform parents and learners as soon as they have permission to re-open the school. Sasolburg High apologised for the inconvenience and short notice.
The News Team earlier shared a statement from Phoenix High School in Vereeniging that is also closed due to a COVID-19 case, while the News Team understands that Hoërskool Drie Riviere is also closed today, but they have not yet released a statement on their Facebook page confirming the closure.
