VAAL TRIANGLE - The South African Social Security Agency has introduced a new process for disability grant applicants who have not been approved - to lodge an appeal. According to SASSA, the appeal must be filed within 30 days after receiving a rejection letter. The agency notes the review process for appeals also takes approximately 30 days. The approval of disability grants depends on an assessment conducted by a SASSA-contracted medical doctor who submits a report to SASSA, which is used to determine whether the applicant qualifies for the grant.
