Sebokeng hospital is one of 8 Gauteng hospitals without a permanent CEO

VAAL TRIANGLE - The Sebokeng Hospital in the Vaal Triangle is one of eight hospitals in Gauteng that does not have permanent CEO’s. The Gauteng Department of Health said in a statement that eight out of 30 hospitals in the province have acting CEOs. According to the department, recruitment processes were under way to fill the top positions at Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital, Jubilee Hospital, Pretoria West Hospital, Bertha Gxowa Hospital, Far East Rand Hospital, Pholosong Hospital, Bheki Mlangeni Hospital, and Sebokeng Hospital. The department said it strived to fill senior and managerial positions timeously to strengthen management and accountability at hospitals and central and district offices. Gauteng health department spokesperson Kwara Kekana said the acting CEOs and management teams they worked with at the eight hospitals had the necessary authority and delegating powers to discharge their duties. She added that having an acting CEO did not adversely affect service delivery at these facilities. However, Kekana said Sebokeng Hospital's chief executive post was technically not vacant because the incumbent was seconded to Sedibeng health district.
