Sharpeville Library closed due to extensive vandalism

SHARPEVILLE - The Emfuleni Local Municipality issued a notice that, due to extensive vandalism, the Sharpeville Public Library will be temporarily closed. The Sports, Recreation, Arts & Culture, Libraries, Information Services and Cemeteries (SRACLIS) said the Sharpeville Library had to be closed on Monday until further notice. The department said this is due to extensive vandalism of the facility overnight. ELM said vandalism of public infrastructure is a crime and must be fought against by all citizens. The municipality said it appreciates the community’s understanding and apologised for any inconvenience caused. ELM invited members of the public to utilise alternative libraries in their vicinity.
