Shop owner allegedly shoots and kills vehicle thief in Duncanville

VEREENIGING - The Vereeniging SAPS says a 35-year-old man was shot and killed in Duncanville after attempting to steal a vehicle. Police spokesperson, Captain Fikile Funda, said in a statement it is alleged that two suspects arrived at a shopping centre driving a white GOLF 7. One suspect allegedly then went to force open a white Toyota Corolla that was parked outside in the parking area. The suspect forced the vehicle, which belonged to a shop owner’s son, open and got in. Funda said the owner saw what was happening through the shop window. He went outside, drew his pistol and shot the suspect on the head once and the suspect fell to the ground. Funda said the suspect was declared dead by paramedics, while the second suspect fled the scene. According to Funda, the investigation is still ongoing.
