South Africa has moved further down in the Corruption Perceptions Index

VAAL TRIANGLE - South Africa has slipped one point in the 2022 Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index from 44 to 43. The index ranks 180 countries based on perceptions of public sector corruption from zero, highly corrupt, to 100, very clean. Most of the world continues to fail to fight corruption, with 95% of countries having made little to no progress since 2017. Corruption Watch’s, Karam Singh, says the fact that South Africa has slipped at a time when there appears to be some momentum following the findings of the Zondo Commission reports, is particularly galling.
