South Africa will move to level three lockdown next month

VAAL TRIANGLE - President Cyril Ramaphosa says following several consultations the whole country will move down to level three lockdown as from the first of next month. He addressed the nation last night following recent meetings of Cabinet, the National Coronavirus Command Council and the President’s Coordinating Council. Ramaphosa said under level three alcohol will be sold for home consumption on specified days and hours, tobacco and all gatherings except for funerals remain prohibited. Citizens can now exercise at any time of the day, but not in groups.

Ramaphosa says government remains concerned about the Western Cape which is the country’s epicenter of the virus. The province has a total of 13 969 confirmed cases and 300 deaths. The country will move to level three lockdown from the first of next month. Addressing the nation last night, Ramaphosa said metropolitan cities, including Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni, eThekwini, Nelson Mandela Bay, Buffalo City and Cape Town have been identified as hotspots for the coronavirus.
