South Africans are facing a difficult winter season as the energy crisis escalates.

VAAL TRIANGLE - The acting CEO of Eskom, Calib Cassim, says South Africans should anticipate a difficult winter season as the energy crisis escalates. He was speaking at the National Demand Side Management Indaba yesterday in Muldersdrift, Gauteng. The indaba is hosted by the Presidential National Energy Crisis Committee. Cassim told eNCA that the main objective is the stability of the grid. He also said the indaba is important in balancing the supply and demand capacity.

Meanwhile, President Cyril Ramaphosa says bringing energy security and ending load shedding is the number one priority. He delivered the closing speech at the meeting of the ANC's National Executive Committee in Boksburg, Ekurhuleni. Eskom is applying phase 6 load shedding in the evenings this week due to limitations with generation capacity. Ramaphosa says the NEC welcomes the important steps taken by the government to implement the Energy Action Plan.
