SPCA urges people to find alternative accommodation for pets while they’re away

VAAL TRIANGLE - The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, better known as the SPCA, is urging people to find alternative accommodation for their pets while they’re away. The SPCA says at this time of year, animals are often left on their own when, unfortunately, some escape in search of food and company and some even die of hunger. A spokesperson for the National SPCA, Keshvi Nair, said that one of the major issues that they deal with is that people go away during the festive season and leave their pets behind. Nair says abandoning pets is a crime under the Animals Protection Act.
