The Vaal Dam records a slight decline ahead of a dry winter season

VAAL TRIANGLE - The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) said the Vaal Dam saw a drop of 0.6% this week from 103.6% last week to 103% this week. The dam’s levels last year were almost half of the current levels at 52%. Department spokesperson, Sputnik Ratau, said more than half of the 14 dams forming part of the Integrated Vaal River System (IVRS) had declined this week, while three remained the same, with only two recording a slight increase. However, he says that people should still use water sparingly as South Africa is a water-scarce country.
