Three Rivers residents without power for eleven days

VAAL TRIANGLE - The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Gauteng said it is appalled at the lack of action by the Emfuleni Municipality and the Administrator appointed to address the lengthy power outages in the municipal area. In Three Rivers, Vereeniging, residents have been without electricity for eleven days, with no end to the problem in sight. If that is not enough, Rand Water also took steps to restrict water supply to the residents due to non-payment from the municipality. DA-spokesperson, Dennis Ryder, says the party calls on the COGTA Minister, Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, to urgently intervene.

Meanwhile, Vaal Traffic issued a warning that due to the ongoing power problems in the area, community members have decided to close all major routes into the area. These will include Houtkop road, General Hertzog road and Golf road. There are also talks of closing the intersection at Spar as well as Villiers road. Community members plan to do this from today at 17h00 and throughout the weekend.
