VANDERBIJLPARK - The Vanderbijlpark SAPS says two suspects were arrested for business robbery in Vanderbijlpark after they were possibly linked to a number of different business robbery cases in the Free State. Police spokesperson, Sergeant Gertrude Makhale, said in a statement a 32-year-old Ethiopian suspect and a 30-year-old South African suspect were arrested at around 18:30 for business robbery in Becquerel Street, CW2, Vanderbijlpark. Makhale said members received information that a blue Audi A4 which has been terrorising the Free State with business robberies is roaming the area. She said members waited patiently and observed the suspects’ movement as they could see their intentions were to commit crime. While this was happening, Task Team members already mobilized backup from different law enforcement, Vanderbijlpark Crime Prevention, JH Tactical Services, ASEC Security and Rescom Security who were also observing at a distance. Makhale said it is alleged that the suspect entered the store pointed the cashier with a firearm the accomplice handed the cashier the bag and instructed the cashier to put money in the bag when the members saw the suspects were about to leave the shop they tactically moved towards the suspects and clamped them right in front the store. Stolen cash, firearm recovered, suspect’s vehicle was impounded. Makhale said because the Suspects are linked with different business robbery cases in the Free State, this indeed will be a huge reduction to these cross-border/interprovincial crimes that are affecting us.
