Two trapped in taxi after General Smuts Road accident last night

VEREENIGING - Paramedics say at least eight people were injured last night in a collision between a light motor vehicle and a taxi on General Smuts Road in Vereeniging. ER24 said their paramedics arrived on the scene at approximately 20:00 to find the two vehicles in the middle of the road. Two critically injured people were trapped inside the taxi while several others with moderate injuries were walking around on the scene. The Provincial Fire Services had to use specialised rescue equipment to free the trapped patients. Once freed, medics treated the patients and provided the two critically injured with advanced life support interventions. After treatment, the patients were transported to nearby hospitals for further care. ER24 said local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
