VUT warned against protest action at its campus this morning

VANDERBIJLPARK - The Vaal University of Technology (VUT) in Vanderbijlpark confirmed that a student protest started this morning at the campus main gate. VUT’s Director of Marketing and Public Relations, Kediemetse Mokotsi, said in a statement that everyone is advised to not try to access the campus if there are no urgent matters that need to be attended to. Mokotsi also urged staff members to work remotely where possible, to avoid unnecessary congestion at the main gate. The university did not mention the reason for the protest. Vaal Traffic also this morning confirmed the protest and urged motorists to avoid the area. The traffic group also noted another protest at the Sedibeng College main gate in Frikkie Meyer Boulevard.
