VAAL TRIANGLE - According to recently released crime statistics, hijackings in South Africa are at a ten-year high. Johannesburg is one of the worst affected areas and with the festive season approaching, there are plenty of warnings about what to do to stay safe. Vaal Triangle residents travelling to Johannesburg are urged to be cautious. Nearly 17 000 people were hijacked in the country in the previous financial year. Gauteng saw an increase of 16.9% of hijackings with an increase of over 8600 cases recorded in the province.
