BREAKING: VAAL TRIANGLE - Energy regulator Nersa has denied Eskom it’s application for a 19.9% tariff increase, instead granting it 5.23%. According to chairperson Jacob Modise, the increase is approved for the power supplier’s revenue application of more than 190 billion Rands. Eskom applied for a total allowable revenue of R219.514 billion, which translates to a 19.9% average percentage price increase. Nersa said in a statement the application is forward-looking and is not inclusive of the Regulatory Clearing Accounts (RCAs). The Energy Regulator has approved Eskom’s allowable revenue of R190.348 billion for the 2018/19 financial year, which is at 5.23% increase. It will be charged from April 1, 2018.
