MIDVAAL - The Midvaal Local Municipality (MLM) says its water account to Randwater is up to date, but one of its areas that receives water from Emfuleni is still being affected. Midvaal said in a statement Rand Water, which supplies water to both municipalities, recently started to restrict the water supply to ELM by 20% due to non-payment issues. This is despite an agreement entered into between ELM and Rand Water on the payment of the arrears. Midvaal said it is unable to determine the exact problem at this stage, despite repeated attempts to contact the relevant persons. As soon as they obtain more clarity, they will inform residents accordingly. The municipality said this restriction unfortunately negatively impacts water pressure in Risiville. It advised residents to plan for water usage outside of peak times or to store water during times of low usage. High usage impacts the higher lying areas most if pressure is low. MLM has no control over this matter and apologised for any inconvenience caused to the residents of Risiville. Midvaal said it is investigating more reliable, possible water supply options for the future, but this is a longer-term exercise.
